Cloudflare Turnstile

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our website to protect our contact forms and other forms from automated access, spam, and abuse. The service is provided by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.

Turnstile is a security service designed to determine whether a form submission is being made by a human user or by an automated system. For this purpose, Turnstile performs technical checks in the user’s browser and evaluates various signals that are necessary to detect automated or abusive activity.

In connection with these checks, Cloudflare may process technical information such as the IP address, browser and device information, operating system, user agent, referring URL, website and widget information, interaction and challenge data, and other technical information required to provide the security service. Cloudflare may also generate temporary identifiers and verification tokens. According to Cloudflare, Turnstile does not access, store, or transmit the contents entered into our contact forms.

The purpose of this processing is to protect our website and forms against spam, automated submissions, bots, and other abusive or malicious activities.

The legal basis for the use of Cloudflare Turnstile is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in protecting our website, technical infrastructure, and communication channels from automated abuse and spam and in ensuring the security and availability of our online services.

When using Cloudflare services, personal data may also be transferred to and processed in the United States. Cloudflare states that it participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Where applicable, Cloudflare also relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary safeguards for international data transfers.
